Gurugram’s District Town Planner Enforcement (DTPE) department, supported by a robust police contingent, has recently initiated a comprehensive enforcement drive, specifically targeting the upscale residential enclave of Sushant Lok-1. This significant operation aims to curb the widespread issue of unauthorized commercial establishments operating out of residential properties, a growing concern that has significantly impacted the quality of life for local residents.
The stringent action comes in response to an increasing number of grievances from residents who have consistently voiced their frustration over the proliferation of commercial entities within their residential zones. These illicit operations range from various retail shops and bustling clinics to fitness centers and other businesses, all functioning in clear violation of zoning regulations. The presence of these commercial ventures not only disrupts the peaceful residential environment but also leads to exacerbated problems such as traffic congestion, inadequate parking, and the obstruction of communal spaces, which are meant for the sole use and benefit of the residents.
During this concentrated drive, the DTPE team meticulously identified and addressed numerous violations. A total of 61 show-cause notices were promptly issued to plot owners found to be in contravention of the established norms, demanding an explanation for their non-compliance. Beyond merely issuing notices, the enforcement squad undertook more drastic measures where necessary. In a decisive move, several unauthorized constructions and significant encroachments were either demolished or sealed, particularly within the bustling Vyapar Kendra Market, which has become a hotspot for such illegal activities. This included the sealing of 21 offices that were operating without proper authorization, along with the removal of illegal staircases and other structures that were encroaching upon public pathways and common areas, thereby restoring accessibility and order.
Officials from the DTPE have underscored the seriousness of these violations and reiterated their unwavering commitment to upholding urban planning regulations. They have clearly stated that the current drive is not a one-off event but rather the initial phase of ongoing efforts. Further stringent measures will be implemented if the identified violations persist, emphasizing that property owners must adhere to the designated use of their plots. This proactive enforcement aims to ensure that Sushant Lok-1, a primarily residential area, retains its intended character and that residents can enjoy a peaceful and uncongested living environment, free from the nuisances caused by unauthorized commercial intrusions. The authorities are determined to restore civic order and improve the overall urban infrastructure in the area for the long-term benefit of its inhabitants.
